I'm a typical Tory

That's something you very rarely read or hear! Why is it that Conservative's like to point out that they are not 'typical Tory's'?
At the CF election hustings in Bristol I think I heard at least 3 of the candidates claim that they were not typical Tory's and that they have chosen to vote conservative.

Congratulations, you have managed to make up your own mind about who to vote for.

I find it amusing that Conservatives will understate the upbringing they had, if they come from a conservative constituancy that is next to a labour constituancy they will say they come form the labour area, regardless of the fact that they lived in a detached 5 bedroom house with an acre of land.

We can no longer say which socioeconomic groups vote for which parties, it isn't that straight forward any more, no longer do factory workers vote Conservative because their boss tells them to, if only typical tories voted conservative they would never have been in power in the 80's.

There are so many 'not typical tories' in the Conservative party today that they have become the typical tory. Therefore the fact I started my life in a council house, was raised by socialists, am related to people who helped set up the Labour party in Bristol and spent much of my school holidays with a Labour councillor and president of a Union in a Union owned house now appears to make me a typical tory.

There are lots of 'not conservatives' in the Conservative party too.

Have fun being Somerset CF Chairman.
